The 2020 Drone Pals Awards Are Here!
a drone media contest for everyone
Drone Pals is a global drone and travel community with over 100,000 members spanning 70+ countries. Drone Pals provides a creative platform, recognition, and engagement for aerial creators across the world. Each year, Drone Pals hosts the Drone Pals Awards to recognize the best aerial artists and photography and to inspire the world by sharing novel perspectives.
“Each year there are some phenomenal aerial perspectives that are captured. As an organization we give our members multiple ways to get recognized for their work beyond social media features. This year, in addition to the new Drone Pals Art Store, we have grown our Annual Awards to be bigger than ever before with partners, judges, and a rare Drone Pals Trophies. We hope that the awards this year will inspire both those inside and outside of our community to use our platform to connect with one another. Given the various challenges COVID-19 presented each of us this year, we also decided to add an additional category to showcase how creative editing at home can get”
– Kyle Hulse, Co-Founder of Drone Pals
categories
This year’s Awards include 11 unique submission categories and a number of exciting prizes. The first 3 categories, Artist of the Year, Photo of the Year, and Video of the Year will be chosen by our panel of judges and will showcase the best and brightest aerial creators and their work from 2020.
Next we have the content categories, including:
- Nature – Mother Nature’s finest creation whether a living organism, or a vast landscape.
- City – Your favorite perspective of a city from around the world.
- Abstract/Textures – A shot that your mind gets lost in due to its visual appeal. You might even consider a pattern.
- Seasons – Something that showcases beauty from one of the 4 seasons.
- Minimalism – Ideally your most simplistic shot, less is more here.
- Created at Home (COVID-19) – A new category for the most creative creators, and the media they were able to create at home amidst the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. This could be something as simple as a shot from your backyard, living room, or a previous shot you spent hours re-editing within Photoshop.
Drone Pals and our panel of judges want to see each artist’s unique interpretation on these categories and the content they decide to submit. Lastly, we have the People’s Choice: Favorite Artist and People’s Choice: Favorite Photo categories. These categories will be determined by our community.
partners & prizes
Drone Pals is proud to partner with other industry brands to provide over $5,000 in prizes to award winners.
PolarPro pushes the limits set by traditional camera gear, designing equipment from the field by working directly with the industry’s most inspiring creators. Their cinematic drone filters are top notch, and something each creator should have in their tool set. A prize that will make your photos even more epic.
Adorama‘s mission is to inspire, educate and equip everyone because we are ALL creators. Adorama wanted to supply the winners with a gift card to allow creators to determine what purchase will best help them advance their passion.
Drones unfortunately do not record any sound during flight… That’s where SimplySounds’ SoundPaks come in. Choose sounds from a variety of environments and subtly incorporate them into your work. These sounds can change the immersive experience of a video, and they will be providing a collection of them to each winner.
Drone Launch Academy is an education platform aimed to assist you taking your drone passion to new heights (no pun intended!). They offer 107 education courses, editing courses, and soon a course on the best practices to making money with your drone. This year they are giving each winner cash to grow their drone business passion.
You already know Drone Pals… This year we have added a couple of fun prizes to the mix. We have some one-of-a-kind Drone Pals Awards Trophies for each winner. We will also be providing each winner with contributor invites, and website/social features. Drone Pals will also award a Onewheel as the grand prize to one lucky winner. See the prizes you can win in each category here.
